Summer School Research Workshop for Masters and Doctoral students
Are you going to do a Masters or Doctoral study? This workshop is for you!
Look no further if you want to successfully complete your study. Experts will guide you through research philosophy, approaches, strategies, data collection, and data analysis. Furthermore, contemporary topics such as design thinking, and ethics will be discussed. You will also be assisted in building your proposal and thesis.
Your experts are Prof JC Cronje, who is an international acclaimed researcher with more than 65 Phd’s and over 150 master students receiving their degrees under his super vision.
Prof T Steyn, a rerated NRF researcher with 25 years of supervising PhDs and Masters students at the University of South Africa understands the challenges of postgraduate students and is well-equipped to assist prospective students on their journey towards success.
Prof A van der Merwe, renowned researcher with many years of experience in supervision with national and international students. As an NRF rated researcher she is perfectly suited to guide you through the complexities of novice research.
Prof R de la Harpe is research coordinator at CPUT with extensive experience in the research processes at tertiary institutions. She has travelled extensively to international universities to familiarise her with the latest knowledge in design thinking, and participatory research. She has supervised many Masters and Doctoral students and introduced new innovative research methods to her students.

Autumn Graduation 11 April 2014
At the recent autumn graduation ceremony on Friday 11 April 2014, two students of the Faculty of Informatics and Design were awarded the degree Doctor of Technologiae. John Roome was awarded Doctor of Technologiae: Design. The title of his thesis is Creative applications of basic computer software: A practice-led exploration of visual art and design thinking through drawing and animation. John was supervised by Prof Johannes Cronje.
The degree Doctor of Technologiae: Information Technology was awarded to Eben van Blerk. The title of his thesis is The role of emotional intelligence in the implementation of information technology strategies. Eben was supervised by Dr Andre de la Harpe and Prof Johannes Cronje.
